Healthier Ferrero Rocher
Homemade Ferrero Rocher are so delicious, easy to make, and made healthy ingredients! This is the perfect little holiday treat that is nostalgic, while being vegan, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free
This treat is so nostalgic to me, finding these in my Christmas stocking was my favorite! Unfortunately the ingredients of the store bought are not the best, but fortunately, we can make them so much healthier and just as tasty at home! I do not feel like I am “missing out” at all because these are just perfect.
It is actually really simple and quick to make, so I highly recommend giving this a try and treating yourself to deliciousness.
Ingredients and Benefits:
Hazelnuts: Of course we need these! They’re rich in antioxidants, health fats, and vitamins to protect heart health and support blood sugar. You will also need my hazelnut butter recipe or a store-bought (Fine and Raw or Ground Up have clean ingredient ones!)
Cacao powder: Rich in flavonoids that lower blood pressure and have anti-aging effects
Coconut oil: A healthy fat full of antioxidants and phytochemicals. It contains MCTs that are quickly absorbed in the gut, and studies have shown that it may encourage fat burning
Chocolate: I opt for a chocolate sweetened with unrefined sugar; some I recommend are Hu chocolate, Just Date, Oobli
Recipe:
1⁄2 cup roasted hazelnuts
1⁄4 cup hazelnut butter
2 tbsp cacao powder
1 tbsp coconut oil, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
1⁄4 tsp salt
Extra whole hazelnuts for the middle (I made 12)
1⁄4 cup chocolate, melted
1 tsp coconut oil
Crushed hazelnuts to top
In a mini processor, blend hazelnuts, hazelnut butter, cacao, oil, vanilla, and salt
Form into balls and press down into middle to place a hazelnut in and then seal
Melt chocolate with oil
Stir in chopped hazelnuts
Coat each ball and place on plate
Place in fridge for 30 minutes or freezer for 15 to firm
Sink your teeth in :)
